Introduction

The founder of this Kung Fu routine is debated. It is said that Shaolin Taizu Chang Quan. which is also called Shaolin Taizu Long Fist was developed by Emperor Zhao Kuangyin from the Song dynasty. Whereas, others believe it was developed during the Ming dynasty era and is only named ‘Taizu’ in honor of the before mentioned Song Emperor, or possibly a tribute to the first Ming Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang.

Taizu Chang Quan a skillful routine to master. It is classes as a traditional Shaolin Kung Fu form which combines internal and external energy with explosive power, speed and control. This form is eclectic as it combines styles of other traditional Chinese martial arts, including Wu Dang Kung Fu, Tai Chi, and Tong Bei Quan etc. The Taizu Chang Quan is characterized by open movements with powerful strikes, and combines flowing transitions, sturdy postures, and coordinated footwork. It is not commonly performed in competition, making it a special form to learn.
